Elephant rescue.. and Vital projects for the future of the trust.. and porcupines!!

This Young elephant had slipped into this well 36 hours before and it was just luck that somebody passed by and saw him.. If we had not been on the end of a radio he would have baked in the hot sun inside this horror hole..

This young elephant was stuck in this well for 36 hours..

This young elephant was stuck in this well for 36 hours..

trying to give him something to climb on to get out but he decided it was good to eat!!

trying to give him something to climb on to get out but he decided it was good to eat!! He was very calm and knew people were helping him!

With in 5 minutes of hearing about it on the radio, our team were off with ropes, and tools to get him out.. 3 hours later they arrive at the scene, on the lower Milgis.. It took two hours of digging and putting branches and leaves into the hole before he was able to get out..  luckily the main herd were still around and he headed off into to the darkness.. Not with out a little trumpet and a chase of his rescuers!! He was seen the next day united with his herd and happy..

As a follow up to yesterdays blog.. (And by the way!! even with my smart wind proof new office on the roof, with a 360 degrees view, I managed to publish my last blog about the JANC art auction before it was mean’t to go!!.. so any one who subscribes to it and found it unfinished please look it up on the blog site to get the full article..) ANYWAY as I was saying!.. I would also like to THANK all the other people who have donated/are donating  large and small to our various projects that are underway.. These projects are in the end, what will be important in 10 years time, because the people who benefit from them are the ones that will be taking over the Milgis work.. These include… The Nursery and primary schools that Milgis supports, secondary school sponsor ship of the ones that can’t make it financially, the tractor team making pan dams, health and those who need further treatment and need our help, and Family planning, We thank you so much and please don’t stop just because we have secured the funds for the core operations.. Core ops literally means the scouts, informers, their equipment, uniforms and radios, radio operators, drivers/mechanic and the managers wages,  admin for the trust, fuel and maintenance for the vehicles..

We look after creatures great and small!
